It seems there are two camps of people.
Those who get it, and those who don’t get it.
The Get It Crowd
They are the ones who stick out their hand to say hello. They engage others in conversation and rarely do they talk about themselves.
They remember names, make eye contact and are friendly.
You know when you’ve been around one of these people because they always leave you feeling better about yourself as they walk away.
The Don’t Get It Crowd
Well, they just…don’t.
The Textbook For Getting It.
In 1937, Dale Carnegie wrote the book, How To Win Friends and Influence People. This should be required reading for every high school student around the world.
People skills will make or break the desire to have a happy, productive and peaceful life. This book is the manual.
I want to be in the get it crowd. I have to work hard not to slip, and it’s a struggle to force myself to step outside my comfort zone to be that person.
I may not be as far along as I want to be, but I’m not where I used to be thanks to this great book.
